The ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) has been enacted and
has many implications for the nation and health care organizations in particular.  
The HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health)
signed into law.  HITECH will represent increased requirements for health care
providers as covered entities and technology vendors that are business associates.  
In addition,  HIPAA privacy and security requirements have been beefed up along with fines and criminal penalties which can be brought by the state attorney general as well as US OCR (Office of Civil Rights).  Also, FTC enhanced rules have more stringent privacy requirements for vendors of personal health records and other 
non-covered entities.
